Beginners Hand Weaving

If you've ever wanted to learn to weave, but never had the opportunity; just want to meet new like minded people, or have fun times with friends, then please join Amy's Beginners Hand Weaving workshop to learn the basics of weaving, by weaving a wall-hanging in her three hour workshop!

 

Using Amy's unique handmade framed looms you will set up your first warp and learn basic, contemporary tapestry weaving and classic hand-weaving techniques including fringing rya knots, plain tabby weave, soumak, and rya loops. You will then experiment with a variety of wools and natural materials to create different textures from the selection provided in your chosen colour palette, to weave your own personal wall hanging that you can take home. Amy will demonstrate how to tidy up your loose ends, insert your piece of chosen driftwood and remove your wall-hanging from your loom.

A papercut lightbox is a magical way of creating a three- dimensional piece of art, using light to enhance the hand-cut layers which cast beautiful shadows and give a subtle depth to the piece.

In the 3.5 hour workshop, you will be taught the basics of paper cutting, including how to use a scalpel safely and the principles behind making a lightbox. A wide-range of templates are available to chose from to create and build your own multi-layer A5 lightbox. All the equipment you need is included and no previous experience of drawing or papercutting is needed.

Christmas Pom Pom Wreaths

Paint a Pup

Join Alison, the artist behind Pup Goes The Easel, in a fun day’s workshop.  During the session you will learn how to use acrylic paints to create a unique and quirky painting of your pup, in the ‘Pup Goes The Easel’ style.  Alison will give you hints and tips on how you can capture the essence of your pup, on a canvas, that you will take home to hang on your wall, as an homage to your beloved canine friend.

 

This pawesome workshop is suitable for adults of all abilities and absolute beginners are welcomed.  The group sizes are kept small to enable you to achieve a whole painting in a day.  

​

Alison will provide a canvas, paper, pencils, acrylic paints and brushes which you will use, on the day, to create your unique painting.  You will need to bring an A4 sized photograph or print of your own pup to copy (head and shoulders).  Alison can provide an image of a pup for you to paint, if you prefer. In addition, you will need to bring a light lunch and a water bottle.

Hot and cold soft drinks are available to purchase on arrival, and it is suggested that you arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the start of the workshop to meet the other attendees and to enjoy your refreshments.
